Summary

This role is responsible for activities supporting raw product scheduling into multiple processing plants and/or product lines directly impacting the operational efficiencies of the manufacturing facility. This position interacts with multiple cross functional departments consisting of both external (third party grading contractors, loading contractors, growers) and internal customers (regional raw manager, senior plant management, production personal, transportation supervisors, field representatives). This role will enhance and strengthen relationships with those parties not familiar with the subject matter and provide education on the relevant material. This position will be solution and action oriented that devises solutions with precedents and real time information using evaluation, judgement, and interpretation to recommend and select the correct course of action. Operates as a liaison between regional field department and local manufacturing production facility to produce highest quality of finished product with a highly variable perishable raw product. Manages dynamic circumstances and uses sophisticated analytical problem-solving techniques to identify the causes. This position assesses and resolves a dynamic range of issues surrounding a perishable commodity using evaluation, judgement, and interpretation to select a course of action. The position coordinates the successful delivery and transportation schedules with interaction between field personnel, transportation, loading and production. The position also supervises 1 to 2 Raw Scheduling Assistants as well as directly supervises the independent third-party contractor (oversees raw product inspection for grower payment [$100MM annually per region] for operational efficiency and accuracy).

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that safety policies and procedures are followed and adhered to in their area of accountability with focus on 0 safety instances or accidents.

  • Enhances relationships and ensures positive and productive interaction with internal customers (senior plant management, production personnel, regional raw manager, field representatives, transportations supervisors) and external customers (growers, third party contractors) as the subject matter expert

  • Provides cost effective solutions using sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify the cause.

  • Devises recommendation, solutions, and implementations based on information on variable commodity quality attributes and adapts existing approaches to resolve the issues focusing on manufacturing plant efficiency

  • Supervision of Raw Product Scheduling Assistant (1-2) and third-party grading contractors

  • Ensure that Company policies, procedures, and Union contracts are administered in a fair and consistent manner.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

5+ years related experience and/or training

Required Certifications

Bachelor Degree and 5 years related experience

Other Information

Requires full understanding of area of specialization, principles, and practices of raw product (potato) scheduling in relation to manufacturing operations and variable quality raw product supply. Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with Bachelor’s degrees or 3 years and a Master’s degree. Strong knowledge of computer systems. Experience in database management and Power BI tool preferred. Excellent organizational skills. Strong knowledge of computer systems. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to assesses unusual circumstances using sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques. Resolves and assess a wide range of issues in creative ways and suggests variations in approach. Potato experience and agricultural knowledge in planting, harvesting, and equipment preferred. Must have working knowledge of potato production (agriculture) and potato processing.
